New Bern has gone 9-0-1 against South Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears will look to defend their home pitch against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. South Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on New Bern, who comes in off a win.

New Bern barely beat Northside - Jacksonville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears' defense stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. New Bern might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Kimberly Alvear and Natalie Farver scored all three of New Bern's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, South Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 7-0 to J.H. Rose. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 444th, while J.H. Rose are ranked 63rd).

New Bern has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for South Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

New Bern took their win against South Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
