Baseball Recap: Draper APA Comes Up Short

After flying high against Maeser Prep Academy on Friday, Draper APA came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the American Heritage Patriots by a score of 14-13 on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Kason Crafts put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Crafts was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Hayden Caldwell led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Weston Stratton, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Draper APA now has a losing record of 2-3. As for American Heritage, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

While Draper APA had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 a.m. on Friday.
