Preview: Centennial vs. Campo Verde
The Centennial Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Campo Verde Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Stampede by a score of 3-1.
Meanwhile, Campo Verde kept a clean sheet against Mountain Pointe last Friday. Everything went their way against the Pride as they made off with a 6-0 win. Given Campo Verde's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Campo Verde hit Mountain Pointe with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Alonso Lozano Felix (2),
Yahir Flores (2),
Oscar Liogon Arenas, and
Bryson Jennings.
Centennial's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six matchups. As for Campo Verde, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
