Softball Recap: Granada Comes Up Short

Granada lost against Benicia back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Matadors fell 5-2 to the Panthers.

Ella Vonbergen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Granada saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Bittman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Granada's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Benicia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Granada will take on Carondelet in a tournament on Friday. As for Benicia, they will face off against Saint Francis at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
