Softball Recap: Interboro Extends Winning Streak to Six

Interboro waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Chichester Eagles 14-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on April 9th.

Jules Bergen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Interboro got a massive performance out of Vannesa Harrity, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Harrity a new career-high. Mare Nagle was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Interboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.

Interboro pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Chichester, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Interboro will take on Ridley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Buccaneers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chichester, they will be playing at home against Renaissance Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
