Baseball Game Preview: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Chavez Titans

Stagg has gone 8-2 against Chavez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Stagg Delta Kings will take on the Chavez Titans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stagg has five straight wins, Chavez has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Stagg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pacheco, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. Everything went Stagg's way against Pacheco on Monday as Stagg made off with a 7-1 victory. Considering the Delta Kings have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sebastian Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Stagg let Patrick Inthasak and Kenny Dondunay run wild. Inthasak scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Dondunay scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Inthasak also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Brooks, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Chavez fell victim to Ripon Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 10-0.

Stagg pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Everything went Stagg's way against Chavez when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Stagg made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stagg since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
