Basketball Recap: Notre Dame De Sion Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Abby Wendte and Terryn Ford

If Notre Dame de Sion was riding high fresh off their 70-25 takedown of Bishop LeBlond last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Notre Dame de Sion Storm lost 58-38 to the Bishop Miege Stags on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 94th in Missouri, while the Stags are ranked 31st in Kansas).

Notre Dame de Sion's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Terryn Ford, who posted 12 points, and Abby Wendte, who scored ten points and three steals. Wendte is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Bishop Miege's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayla McClinton, who went 8 for 17 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirston Verhulst, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Notre Dame de Sion's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Bishop Miege, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Coming up, Notre Dame de Sion will be playing at home against Pembroke Hill at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. As for Bishop Miege, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 71-10 win against Heritage Christian Academy on the 6th.
