Softball Recap: Iola-Scandinavia Takes a Loss

Iola-Scandinavia managed to slip by Amherst the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Thunderbirds lost 8-2 to the Falcons on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Thunderbirds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Brooklyn Berrens was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Iola-Scandinavia's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Amherst, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Iola-Scandinavia will take on Pacelli at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Thunderbirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Amherst, they will challenge Stratford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
