Baseball Recap: Kerr-Vance Academy Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kerr-Vance Academy walked away with it. They never let the Halifax Academy Vikings get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 19-3 victory back in April.

Nathan McDaniel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, MJ Wright was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Jaxton Stokes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Kerr-Vance Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Halifax Academy, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Kerr-Vance Academy will be playing at home against Ridgecroft at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Halifax Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
