Preview: Turner Lions vs. Wakeland Wolverines

Turner is 0-3 against Wakeland since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Turner Lions will be playing at home against the Wakeland Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Turner and five for Wakeland.

Turner's game on Tuesday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They had to suffer through a rough 66-39 loss at the hands of Frisco. Turner has struggled against Frisco recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sahil Anand, who scored eight points. Rodney Gray was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Wakeland came up short against Lone Star on Tuesday and fell 64-52. While losing is never fun, Wakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Lone Star is ranked 47th).

Turner dropped their record down to 15-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Wakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Turner took a serious blow against Wakeland in their previous meeting on January 2nd, falling 67-39. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Turner was down 41-14.
