Softball Recap: Granville Central Comes Up Short

Granville Central fell victim to J.F. Webb and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hailey Whitfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Granville Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myra Travis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Granville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for J.F. Webb, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Granville Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Durham School of the Arts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for J.F. Webb, they will face off against Warren County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
