Basketball Game Preview: Beechcroft Cougars vs. Mifflin Punchers

Having just played yesterday, the Beechcroft Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Mifflin Punchers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Beechcroft came up short against Columbus Academy and fell 49-42. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mifflin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 55-51 to East.

Beechcroft will need focus on slowing down David McClunney, one of several Mifflin players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave McClunney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adimalik Omar, who posted ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Mifflin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Mifflin dropped their record down to 8-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Beechcroft, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Beechcroft strolled past Mifflin when the teams last played back in January by a score of 68-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beechcroft since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
