Basketball Game Preview: Sabino Sabercats vs. Payson Longhorns

The Sabino Sabercats are taking a road trip to square off against the Payson Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sabino will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Sabino can't be too worried about heading out to take on Payson: they just beat Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Sabino beat Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 49-44.

It was another big night for Chayil Combs, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 23 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (71%). Another player making a difference was Jayda Haley, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards.

Meanwhile, Payson hadn't done well against Holbrook recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Payson secured a 42-38 W over Holbrook.

Payson's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.3 points. As for Sabino, their win bumped their record up to 18-10.
