Torrey Pines and Mater Dei are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Torrey Pines Falcons will head out to take on the Mater Dei Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Torrey Pines heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They came up short against Cathedral Catholic, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Dons: they've now lost nine in a row.

While Torrey Pines was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 25-15.

Torrey Pines' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophia Wu, who had 13 digs, and Jaycee Mack, who had 14 kills, nine digs, and two blocks. Mack has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more kills the last four times she's played.

Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won 24 of their last 25 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 35-4 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, they moved to 28-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
