Softball Recap: Amery Warriors vs. Prescott Cardinals
Amery extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-11-1 in the process. They came up short against the Prescott Cardinals, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 on Tuesday.
As for Prescott, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
For Prescott's part, Rory Zuehlsdorf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Zuehlsdorf was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jeanne Rohl was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah French, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Amery is set to take on their familiar foe St. Croix Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Prescott will square off against rival Baldwin-Woodville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cardinals have won three straight at home, while the Blackhawks won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
