Baseball Game Preview: Kimberly Papermakers vs. Appleton East Patriots

Kimberly is 9-1 against Appleton East since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Papermakers will host the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Kimberly and Neenah had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Papermakers put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 13-4 victory on Friday. Considering the Papermakers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Halfmann was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benny Kieffer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Kimberly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Appleton East came out on top against Notre Dame Academy on Monday by a score of 10-8 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Appleton East is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kimberly, they pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything went Kimberly's way against Appleton East in their previous matchup back in April, as Kimberly made off with a 22-5 win. Do the Papermakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
