Basketball Recap: Xavier Find Success

Xavier's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders, sneaking past 54-51. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier will take on Kennedy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Xavier likes a good challenge. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, they will challenge Sioux City West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Heelan Catholic is facing Sioux City West at the right time seeing as Sioux City West is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
