Soccer Game Preview: Cole vs. Gonzales

The Cole Cougars will take on the Gonzales Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cole took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against John F. Kennedy, sneaking past 2-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Cole's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 288th, while John F. Kennedy are ranked 647th).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2025, Gonzales was forced to settle for a draw on Saturday. Neither they nor Yoakum could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Cole has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those 11 contests. With that draw, Gonzales' record moves to 3-10-2.
