Baseball Game Preview: Mater Bay Academy Rays vs. Coral Shores Hurricanes

The Mater Bay Academy Rays will head out to square off against the Coral Shores Hurricanes at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mater Bay Academy has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Mater Bay Academy came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Archbishop Carroll.

Mater Bay Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jostin Rosario, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Rosario has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Coral Shores came tearing into Monday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Stallions.

Coral Shores pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Bay Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mater Bay Academy suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Coral Shores when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Mater Bay Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
