Southwest scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 76-65 to the Cambridge Trojans. The Roughriders were probably out for revenge after losing 55-30 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Southwest lost, don't look at Houston Billeter. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine boards. That was a full 49.2% of Southwest's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Deric Kelley was another key player, putting up seven points along with 11 rebounds and six assists.

Even though they lost, Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Brady Ahlemeyer was his usual excellent self, going 13 of 23 on his way to 42 points for Cambridge. With that strong performance, Ahlemeyer is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverick Webb, who put up ten points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Southwest's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Cambridge, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 69-42 victory against Wauneta-Palisade on the 11th. As for Cambridge, they will host Medicine Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
