Recap: St. John Paul II Panthers vs. Walton Braves
On Saturday, St. John Paul II ended up a good deal behind Walton and lost 70-52. While losing is never fun, St. John Paul II can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while Walton is ranked 93rd).
When it comes to explaining why St. John Paul II lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mario Forbes. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. Forbes is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Cayden King was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
St. John Paul II's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-10. As for Walton, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
St. John Paul II will be playing in front of their home fans against Munroe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Munroe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Walton, they will head out on the road to face off against Chipley at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
