Softball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Freeman Mavericks

Hermitage is 2-8 against Freeman since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Hermitage has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hermitage took on Glen Allen on Friday. The Panthers lost 13-1 to the Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Meanwhile, Freeman posted their closest victory since April 23, 2025 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over J.R. Tucker. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Freeman's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Hermitage, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Hermitage suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Freeman in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
