Baseball Recap: North Monterey County Beats Pacific Grove for Their Fourth Straight Win

North Monterey County came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Pacific Grove Breakers.

Jered Kallenberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, JT Islas was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Greg Jimenez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

North Monterey County pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Pacific Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

North Monterey County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pacific Grove: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
