Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Gretna East's Winning Streak

After flying high against Lincoln Northwest last Tuesday, Gretna East came back down to earth. The Gretna East Griffins took a hard 45-28 fall against the Norris Titans on Friday. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Norris was led to victory by Ize Tidball and Ray Wegner. Tidball made all 6 shots she took racking up 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Wegner almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Tidball is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landri Gates, who posted eight points.

Gretna East moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Norris, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Gretna East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln Christian at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln Christian will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Gretna East surely won't give up without a fight. As for Norris, they will welcome Blair at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
