Softball Recap: West Blocton Triumphs

It was close, but on Saturday the West Blocton Tigers sidestepped the Vestavia Hills Rebels for a 2-1 victory.

Ralyn Irvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

West Blocton now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Vestavia Hills, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, West Blocton will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Isabella at 4:30 p.m. As for Vestavia Hills, they will be taking part in a tournament against Gulf Shores at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
