Basketball Recap: Nelson Island Comes Up Short

Nelson Island lost against Chaputnguak last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Nelson Island Islanders lost 67-43 to the Chaputnguak Shaman. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

MacKenzie Larsen was her usual excellent self, putting up 22 points for Chaputnguak. Larsen's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Donetta Vaavale was another key player, posting 14 points.

Nelson Island's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chaputnguak, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chaputnguak beat Nelson Island by a score of 66-44 on Friday.
