Preview: Rye Garnets vs. Pelham Memorial Pelicans
After both having extra time off, the Rye Garnets and the Pelham Memorial Pelicans will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Rye had to start their season on the road last Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 57-50 to White Plains. The contest was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Rye was outscored by White Plains in the second.
Meanwhile, Pelham Memorial also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Harrison by a score of 46-36.
Rye's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Pelham Memorial, their loss was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-1.
Rye didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Pelham Memorial in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rye since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
