Softball Recap: Manchester Comes Up Short

Manchester fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Whitko on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Squires in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Molly Schannep spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Manchester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Renz, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Manchester now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Whitko, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Manchester is set to square off against their familiar foe Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Whitko will take on rival Wabash at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
