Baseball Recap: Handley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rock Ridge on Wednesday, Handley came back down to earth. The Judges fell just short of the Liberty Eagles by a score of 8-6 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Logan Ambrose was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Will Braun-Duin, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Handley has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Liberty, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8.

Coming up, Handley will host Kettle Run at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Judges' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Liberty, they will square off against Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
