Soccer Game Preview: MacArthur vs. Nimitz

For the first time this season, MacArthur will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Nimitz Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

MacArthur is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Emerson last Monday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, MacArthur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Emerson are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, Nimitz and Denton finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Monday.

With that draw, Nimitz's record moves to 2-5-3. As for MacArthur, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

MacArthur beat Nimitz by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2025, winning 3-2. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
