Recap: Godby Cougars vs. Gadsden County Jaguars
Make it seven blowout wins for the Godby Cougars this season. They put the hurt on Gadsden County with a sharp 80-54 win on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Godby has posted since December 7, 2023.
Leading Godby to victory were Mekhi Butler and Jaden Staten. Butler scored 17 points along with six assists, while Staten scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahmel Wade, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Gadsden County still got an impressive performance from Nasir Williams, who scored four points along with 15 rebounds and seven steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The win makes it two in a row for Godby and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Gadsden County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.
Godby will take on Florida State University High School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gadsden County, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Munroe will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
