Basketball Recap: Santana Takes a Loss

Santana fought the good fight in their overtime match against High Tech CV on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the High Tech CV Bruins. While the Sultans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bruins 18-14 in the first quarter.

Kyle Ilagan was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds for High Tech CV. The team also got some help courtesy of Uri Gomez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Santana dropped their record down to 8-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for High Tech CV, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Santana and Central will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.7 points per game this season. As for High Tech CV, they and Monte Vista will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. High Tech CV also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 61.4 points per game.
