Soccer Game Preview: Austin vs. Bowie

Austin is 2-8 against Bowie since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Austin Panthers will welcome the Bowie Bears at 10:30 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Austin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ysleta, but still couldn't quite topple them. Austin never let Ysleta get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Bowie made sure to put some goals up on the board against Harmony Science Academy on Tuesday. They blew past Harmony Science Academy 7-0. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Harmony Science Academy with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Abraham Chaparro (3), Rui Sanchez (2), Christian Alvarez, and Jeshua Aldaba.

Bowie's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four matches. As for Austin, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Austin might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Bowie in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Austin was down 4-0.
