Softball Recap: Cabell Midland Takes Down Ranked Logan

Cabell Midland faced Logan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 6-5. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Madison McCallister and Baylee Smith did most of the damage at the plate: McCallister went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Smith went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave McCallister a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Conrad, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Cabell Midland is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Logan, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cabell Midland will take on Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Logan, they will face off against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
