Basketball Game Preview: Fredericktown Freddies vs. Danville Blue Devils

Fredericktown and Danville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Fredericktown Freddies will head out to face off against the Danville Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fredericktown will be strutting in after a win while Danville will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Fredericktown beat Loudonville 53-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Freddies.

Fredericktown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cally Carpenter, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 18 points and four steals, and Ella Bouton, who posted 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Bouton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Kit Bellman was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Danville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. The match between them and Cardington-Lincoln didn't end well, with Danville falling 44-27. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 718th, while the Pirates are ranked 333rd).

Fredericktown has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Danville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.

Fredericktown strolled past Danville when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 64-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fredericktown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
