Softball Recap: Morristown Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Morristown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Hauser Jets on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Yellow Jackets: when they faced off against the Jets on Monday, they had to take a 13-1 defeat.

Sawyer Rogers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Rogers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Morristown let Nevaeh Cox and Mykynzy Smith run wild. Cox went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Cox has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kindall Dorsey, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Morristown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hauser only posted a batting average of .250.

Morristown's record now sits at 9-10. As for Hauser, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

The future could be bright for both Morristown and Hauser: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Yellow Jackets will look to extend Waldron's 12-game losing streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hauser will try to hand Oldenburg Academy their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
