Preview: Longmeadow Lancers vs. Central Golden Eagles
Longmeadow has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Central Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Longmeadow scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Putnam Vo-Tech, posting a 68-31 win at home.
Meanwhile, Central waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They really took it to West Springfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-25 victory on the road. Central pushed the score to 43-14 by the end of the third, a deficit West Springfield had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Jai-lyn Garvin-martin, who scored 18 points along with five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Longmeadow's record is now 8-2. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Longmeadow suffered a grim 67-46 defeat to Central when the teams last played back in January. Can Longmeadow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
