Baseball Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Fruita Monument Wildcats        
        
		
            
 Chaparral had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-8  victory over the Fruita Monument Wildcats  on Saturday. With that  win, Chaparral brought their scoring average up to 6.2  runs per game.
  Carson Munroe looked comfortable as he  tossed 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits.
 At the plate,  Josh McWilliams was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple. Another player making a difference was  Cole Jenkins, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 On Fruita Monument's side,  Parker Noah and  Kolton Hicks did some serious damage despite the final result:  Noah  went 1-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI, while  Hicks  went 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.  Keenan Oxford was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 The  victory was  the third in a row for Chaparral, bringing their record for this year to 18-7. As for Fruita Monument, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.
 Chaparral will head out on the road to  face off against  Cherry Creek at 9:30  a.m.  on Friday. Cherry Creek is coming into the  match with ten straight  wins at home,  so Chaparral will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum. Fruita Monument does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
