Football Recap: Sparks Railroaders vs. Hug Hawks
Sparks never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed by the Hug Hawks on the road to the tune of 45-0. For the Railroaders, this counts as revenge for the 34-19 loss the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Max Hendrix and his top target Aiden Garibay-Rogers. Hendrix threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes while Garibay-Rogers picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Garibay-Rogers got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of75 yards.
Sparks' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hug, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparks will have plenty of time to enjoy the victory as they don't play again for a while. They'll take on Lowry at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th. Sparks is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. As for Hug, they will square off against Reed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
