Baseball Recap: Andrews Victorious

Andrews took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Georgetown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellowjackets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Sloan Harper, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Andrews' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1-1 (and 4-7-1 when he doesn't). Colby Marlowe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Andrews pushed their record up to 8-8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Georgetown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
