Baseball Recap: Newfield Takes a Loss

Newfield was the 1-0 winner over Riverhead when they last played one another back in May of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolverines fell just short of the Blue Waves by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Ricchetti was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Newfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Lamberson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI was Lamberson's first of the season.

Newfield now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Riverhead, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Newfield nor Riverhead have any future games scheduled.
