Basketball Game Preview: Cicero Prep Academy Centurions vs. Duncan Wildkats

The Cicero Prep Academy Centurions will head out to face off against the Duncan Wildkats at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Duncan will be up against a hot Cicero Prep Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Cicero Prep Academy blew past Hayden 41-11 on Friday.

Cicero Prep Academy found their leader in sophomore Ryleigh Weaver, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine boards, and nine steals. Weaver has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chelsea Leggat, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Cicero Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Duncan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 39-18 margin over Valley Union on Wednesday. Given the Wildkats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cicero Prep Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for Duncan, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5.

Cicero Prep Academy and Duncan were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but Cicero Prep Academy came up empty-handed after a 28-27 loss. Can Cicero Prep Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
