Softball Recap: Highland Prep Comes Up Short

Highland Prep extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They lost 16-3 to the Kingman Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 on April 4th.

Highland Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Rodda, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was Rodda's first of the season.

As for Kingman, they pushed their record up to 14-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Kingman's side, Destiny Hartley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Hartley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlynn Martin, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Destiny Kogianes, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one run.

Highland Prep has already played their next contest, a 23-3 win against Madison Highland Prep on the 24th. As for Kingman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-1 victory against Ash Fork/Seligman on the 24th.
