Softball Recap: Southwest's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Southwest dropped their record down to 7-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 23-9 to the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-10 back in March.

Sannaya Pardey was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ami Casteleiro, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 11-4. Considering they have won ten games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Hialeah-Miami Lakes' side, Daniela Castejon was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with three runs and one double. Ashnelle Arias was another key player, getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances with four runs.

Coming up, Southwest will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Southridge at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Hialeah-Miami Lakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
