Baseball Recap: Northshore Drops Highest Score of Season Against Salmen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northshore). They never let the Salmen Spartans get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Freeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Northshore got a massive performance out of Anthony Abadie, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Abadie a new career-high. Jayden Hellmers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Northshore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Northshore, bringing their record up to 21-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Salmen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Northshore is set to face off against their familiar foe Chalmette at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Northshore 2.1, Chalmette 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Salmen will take on rival Fontainebleau at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
