Softball Recap: Firebaugh Comes Up Short

Firebaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 9-4 to the Madera South Stallions. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stallions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Jolyssa Ochoa and Bethany Mendoza stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ochoa went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Mendoza scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Ochoa has posted since back in April of 2024.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Madera South, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Firebaugh will head out on the road to take on Corcoran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madera South, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-1 win against Mendota on the 10th.
