Baseball Recap: Granite Falls Takes a Loss

South Whidbey hit Granite Falls with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 13-4 to the Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Monday.

Landon Gwinner was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Drake Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Granite Falls and nudges their season record down to 8-10. As for South Whidbey, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite Falls will face off against Mount Vernon Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Hurricanes have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for South Whidbey, they will take on Coupeville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
