Football Recap: Scotland Skates Past Purnell Swett with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scotland). They breezed past the Purnell Swett Rams to the tune of 63-32 on Friday. The Fighting Scots haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mike McLean and Tjurian White. McLean rushed for 150 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries while White rushed for 190 yards and three scores on only 15 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave McLean a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deondre Braddy, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of TDs.

Scotland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 434 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

One reason for the win was Scotland's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rasheme Wilkerson, Jesse Clifton, and Jhaleak Malloy-Henry, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Loss or not, Purnell Swett got some senior leadership from Aidyn Locklear and Sean Locklear. Aidyn threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns, while Sean picked up 74 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Scotland's record is now 6-2. As for Purnell Swett, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland will welcome Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: White and Jayden Graham. As for Purnell Swett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gray's Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.38 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
