Baseball Game Preview: Cascade Cougars vs. Newport Cubs

For the second straight game, Cascade will face off against Newport. The Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cascade has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Newport will come in with three straight wins.

Cascade fell victim to Newport and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 1-0.

Slade Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hans Kamm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Newport pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
