It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northwestern had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Somerset Academy Panthers as they made off with a 79-59 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Bulls sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row.

Calvin Russell Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 38 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Zacuras Dawson, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 21 points and five assists.

Northwestern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Somerset Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Christian Smith, who posted 17 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Jayden Alcine was another key player, going 7-for-17 en route to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Northwestern's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Somerset Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-12.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will square off against St. Brendan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in St. Brendan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matchups. Somerset Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
